What is your educational background? I received my B.S. in nutrition science with an emphasis in dietetics from the University of California at Berkeley, my M.S. in Nutrition Communications at Tufts, and my dietetic internship at Francis Stern/New England Medical Center.
What is your favorite part of your job? Helping create and cultivate public/private partnerships that result in improved nutrition and healthy habits.
What other nutrition-related jobs have you held? I worked as a Biological Science Aid in a U.S. Department of Agriculture lab genetics lab; I also worked as a diabetes educator with Kaiser Permanente and a guest speaker for community programs focused on chronic disease prevention. I was a National Cancer Institute Nutrition Communications Fellow, a curriculum developer for a pediatric obesity prevention program at Boston Medical Center, a Marketing Specialist for faith-based and regional chronic disease prevention programs that encouraged fruit and vegetable consumption in low-income communities, and a retail program manager for a state-wide campaign to promote fruit and vegetable consumption through grocery stores that served low-income families.
What do you consider an ideal breakfast? Eating a bowl of Special K® Red Berries Cereal with Soy Milk and a tangy Granny Smith Apple with natural peanut butter with my family.
What is your favorite Kellogg recipe? Our 2013 student recipe winner – Leggo My Eggo® with Avocado and Goat Cheese.
What do you like to do when you are not at work? Cook, train and compete in triathlons.
